Just across the bridge and nestled up to the Indian River is the historic village of Cocoa, a small establishment of almost 17,000 people founded by fishermen in 1860. Bordered by the river, State Road 520 and Brevard Avenue, Cocoa’s restored downtown offers a wide variety of businesses, an historic theater—now known as the Cocoa Beach Playhouse—and an active calendar of events. Cocoa Riverfront Park hosts many arts and crafts festivals, a Fourth of July fireworks celebration, Cocoa Village Mardi Gras in February and many other unique activities for visitors to enjoy.
